How Long Must We Wait?
There’s one question that’s top of mind with a lot of people right now. No, I am not talking about whether the Strait of Hormuz will stop opening and closing and just be open like it was before. Nor, when the war with Iran will end and whether it will end well. And not even, is Mitch McConnell alive or dead. Although, these are all certainly right up there.
The burning question of the day is, when will Taylor Swift release her wedding photos?
She was married a week ago already.
That event itself led to lots of questions. Chief among them being, is she really getting married at Madison Square Garden? Is that just a ploy? Surely, with her fortune (2 billion and change), they can afford a romantic castle in some secret magical garden somewhere in this world. Not an arena that sits above the train tracks of Penn Station in mid-town Manhattan. And if not that, surely she will opt for a more intimate, private wedding first, and then have the bigger party with everyone else at MSG.
But no. It was not a ploy. She really did get married at Madison Square Garden.
They gave us a cute JUST&T MARRIED sign outside the arena to let us all know the deed was done.
It didn’t take long for many of us to start scrolling our feeds, looking for the photos.
But there was nothing. Zip. Nada. Nil (we are in FIFA World Cup mode here).
Then some photos started appearing.
I am not one who can usually spot a fake. But I was proud of myself as I turned a critical eye and correctly spotted fake after fake after fake. The one of her arriving at MSG via dangling from a helicopter was super creative.
But then, my critical eye failed me. I thought for sure finally I was seeing the real deal.
Excited, I sent the pics, there were 3 or 4 in the post, to my sister and niece exclaiming, “Look, they are here!”
My niece whose eye is clearly more critical than mine, burst my bubble with “No, Aunt Mary. These are fakes. The dresses she’s wearing are all different.”
Sigh.
Truth be told, you may recall from one of my previous blog posts, I am not even a Taylor Swift fan per se.
But I love weddings. And I love wedding dresses. Every time Vogue runs a wedding story, I click and read. I don’t know who any of these people are that they feature, but the wedding locations are always gorgeous and so are the gowns. It’s just all eye candy for me. And fantasy. Beautiful people in love getting married in beautiful places wearing beautiful gowns.
Thus of course, I want to see Taylor’s photos. The fantasy is already a bit tarnished by the location choice though. I don’t care how much MSG may have been transformed, there’s no way it could have been better than some medieval church on the grounds of a castle somewhere in the countryside of France, for example.
So, a lot is riding on these photos of the dress. That’s really what I want to see. And knowing it’s Dior, which is my all-time favorite haute couture house, I am checking my feed daily for their release.
I think we must be getting close to their release though. I saw something in my feed that said when she does release them they will be to her Instagram feed.
I don’t follow her, but I will now.
No sense taking bets on when it will be. Like the Strait of Hormuz being opened or closed, it’s anybody’s guess.
In the meantime, there’s always Vogue.
